Forest School & Outdoor Learning

Forest School

“Forest School is the best thing – I love being able to play with my friends and the grown ups are kind”

Forest school is a long term outdoor education delivery model in which students visit natural spaces to learn personal, social and technical skills. It is an inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a woodland environment.

It is a non directive, child centred approach which creates space for the learners to follow their own interests and explore the multi-sensory environment. It is especially beneficial for children and young people who have experienced trauma and who struggle within mainstream education.

We deliver a large number of Forest School programmes across South and North Lanarkshire and work with care experienced young people and young people with additional support needs.

Here are a few reviews from our previous clients

East Milton Primary School turned to OutLET Play Resource to design a bespoke package to meet our school needs.

Jackie’s Forest School Leaders organised and ran a twelve week block of Forest school for a targeted group of pupils from Primary 4-7. As we were keen to use local woodland OutLET Play Resource sourced and risk assessed a suitable site. All equipment and resources were provided by the company and the children only had to bring the fun, imagination and problem solving skills. Together we tracked children’s growth in 9 key areas and the results were fantastic.

OutLet play resource provided on-site staff training on basic campcraft skills. All staff are now competent and confident in building a safe fire with pupils and basic campfire cooking.

Pupils from P1-5 developed their den building skills within the school grounds and OutLET Play Resource left materials for the staff and children to continue to use and enjoy.

Primary 6 pupils enjoyed a class trip with a difference; Wildcraft Adventure! To quote the class teacher, “The BEST trip EVER!”. The teacher enthused about the fun filled activities, the teamwork,  the problem solving strategies and interpersonal skills demonstrated by the children.

As a result of OutLET Play resources work with the school we have seen staff and pupils alike benefit from their expertise and guidance in teaching and learning in the outdoors!

We can’t wait to work with Jackie and her team again!
