OutLET: Play Resource provides a wide range of training programmes to support the development of Outdoor Learning and play within communities.

Forest and Outdoor Learning Award

Forest School is an internationally recognised form of outdoor learning. It is a empowering and creative person-centred approach to supporting the learning and development of children, young people and adults.

Forest School offers participants the opportunity, through repeated visits, to engage sustainably with the richness of our wild environments to help build; confidence, curiosity, resilience, problem solving and creativity, compassion, care, sustainable dispositions, and healthy bodies and minds.

We are are delighted to be working with FSTC who have adopted the Scotland-specific Forest School award system, called the ‘Forest and Outdoor Learning Awards’ (FOLA), having worked with Newbattle Abbey College to develop and pilot them.

The awards support Curriculum for Excellence and the Attainment Challenge in Scotland. They also seek to support the development of skills for Learning, Life and Work to meet the complex demands of a globalised society.

“Had a fantastic weekend doing fire and tools training with Susan. Course was very informative, down to earth and a lot of fun. Learned so much, had plenty of practice with tools and fire and even picked up some practical tips to help our daily practice. I cant wait to share my new skills with our little people.”

The impact of facilitating quality loose parts play is improved health and well-being and so a positive cycle is put in place.~ Our experienced staff can come to your establishment with our Loose Parts kit and train staff in action – helping them link all the play that’s happening to the CfE
